Best Shopify COD and OTP Apps for Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the GCC

For most Gulf Shopify stores, the best setup is a one-page COD form with OTP (EasySell or Releasit COD Form), plus WhatsApp confirmation before dispatch. Both form apps are free up to 60 orders a month. Together with confirmation, they cut COD refusals by 10–15 points for a few dollars a month.

Key takeaways
  • A good Gulf COD setup has three layers: a fast COD order form, a phone check (OTP), and WhatsApp confirmation before the parcel ships.
  • EasySell and Releasit COD Form are the two leading form apps. Both are free up to 60 orders a month, and EasySell lists Arabic in its admin.
  • Releasit COD Fee or Codify add a COD fee and hide COD on risky carts. Use them if you keep Shopify's normal checkout.
  • Pre-dispatch WhatsApp confirmation cuts COD return-to-origin by 10–15 points. In Saudi Arabia each confirmation costs about one US cent in Meta fees.
  • A full app stack costs about USD 43 a month at 600 orders. Stopping three refused parcels pays for it.

Cash on delivery still wins first orders in the Gulf. Shoppers who don't know your brand yet want to see the parcel before they pay.

The catch? Shopify's built-in COD option is bare. It has no phone check, no COD fee and no confirmation step, so fake orders and refused parcels go straight to your courier bill.

A few small apps fix that. The right stack turns COD from a leak into a steady source of new customers, and it costs less than one refused parcel a month.

Here are the best Shopify COD and OTP apps for Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the wider GCC, with 2026 prices, Arabic support and the setup we'd use.

What does a Shopify COD app actually do?

A COD app adds the controls Shopify's manual Cash on Delivery method lacks. Most Gulf stores need three layers, and no single app does all three equally well.

  1. The order form: A one-page COD form opens on the product page and asks only for name, phone, city and address. It replaces the multi-step checkout for COD buyers, which lifts conversion on mobile.
  2. Verification and rules: An OTP (one-time password) sent by SMS or WhatsApp proves the phone number is real. Rules add a COD fee, ask for a deposit, or hide COD on high-value or risky carts.
  3. Confirmation before dispatch: A WhatsApp message a few hours later asks the buyer to tap "Confirm". Unconfirmed orders get cancelled before you pay a courier.

Why does layer three matter so much? OTP stops fake numbers, but it can't stop a real shopper who cools off overnight. Confirmation catches that buyer while the parcel is still on your shelf.

The form apps are the core purchase. Fee and confirmation apps fill the gaps around them.

1. COD order form apps

A COD form app is the biggest single upgrade. The shopper taps "Order now – pay on delivery", fills four or five fields, verifies the phone and is done.

Releasit COD Form & Upsells

Releasit is the most-reviewed COD form on Shopify, with a 4.9 rating from 2,450 reviews and the Built for Shopify badge. It handles SMS and WhatsApp OTP, address validation and IP blocking in one place.

It also fires pixels for Snapchat, TikTok, Meta and Google. Upsells and quantity offers sit inside the form.

EasySell COD Form & Upsells

EasySell is the strongest alternative, rated 4.9 from 991 reviews. It's the only leading form app that lists Arabic as an admin language, which helps if your team works in Arabic.

Its Advanced plan adds partial COD deposits, so a new buyer can prepay the shipping and pay the rest at the door. Google Sheets export is free, which suits stores that run a call-centre confirmation team.

Here's how the two price up, per month:

Plan levelReleasit COD FormEasySell
Free60 orders60 orders
EntryUSD 11.49, 420 ordersUSD 9.95, 440 orders
MidUSD 29.99, 10,000 ordersUSD 24.95 (Advanced), 10,000 orders
UnlimitedUSD 69.99USD 59.95

SMS and WhatsApp messages are billed separately on both. EasySell charges USD 0.05 for each order over a paid plan's limit.

2. OTP, COD fee and rule apps

Prefer to keep Shopify's normal checkout? Then you don't need a form app. A rules app adds the missing controls to the checkout you already have.

Releasit COD Fee

Releasit COD Fee is rated 4.9 from 609 reviews and carries the Built for Shopify badge. It adds a fixed or percentage COD fee, and it shows or hides COD by country, product, collection, customer tag or order value.

Its partial payments feature takes a deposit online and leaves the balance for the driver. WhatsApp OTP runs before checkout.

It's free up to 60 COD orders a month. Unlimited orders cost USD 29.99 a month.

Codify COD & OTP

Codify is the budget pick and also Built for Shopify. Its Standard plan at USD 0.99 a month covers COD fees and restrictions by product, postcode, cart value and customer tag.

The Pro plan at USD 3.99 adds OTP before or after checkout, reminders and auto-cancel of unverified orders. Messages cost USD 0.0001 each on top. It's newer, with 17 reviews, so test it well before a big campaign.

Hillteck and other India-built apps

Hillteck adds automated voice (IVR) calls alongside WhatsApp verification. COD King and Cashfree CODfirm are popular too, but most of their installs are in India and some features, such as COD-to-prepaid links, only work there.

Shortlist them only after the developer confirms Arabic voice prompts and Gulf SMS delivery.

3. WhatsApp confirmation apps

This is the layer that saves the most money. A utility message asks the buyer to confirm, change or cancel, and your team only ships confirmed orders.

It's the biggest single lever on return-to-origin (RTO, a parcel sent back unpaid), and UAE courier Quiqup sees it work across its merchants. Saudi sellers who confirm within an hour report refusals falling from about 15% to 6–8%.

Your main options:

  • CODSaver. Built for COD confirmation: buyers confirm, cancel or ask for changes in chat. Paid plans start at USD 2.99 a month plus about USD 0.02 a message. The USD 5 plan runs on your own number with 2,000 messages included.
  • Zoko. A full WhatsApp platform built for Shopify, with COD confirmation, COD-to-prepaid nudges, cart recovery and broadcasts. Plans run from USD 49.99 to 499.99 a month.
  • Wati. A simpler shared inbox with broadcasts and chatbots, from USD 59 a month on annual billing, plus Meta's message fees.

Meta charges per delivered message. A COD confirmation counts as a utility message, so it's cheap. Check your own numbers here:

Do these apps support Arabic and RTL?

Your shoppers see the form, not the app's admin. So the real question is whether the form reads well in Arabic.

Every app above lets you rewrite field labels, buttons and messages. That means you can run a fully Arabic form even when the admin is English-only.

Before you go live, check three things on a real phone:

  • Layout. Labels should sit on the right and the form should flip to right-to-left when your store is in Arabic.
  • Phone field. Keep the number field left-to-right and prefill the country code, such as +966. Accept numbers typed with or without the leading zero.
  • Messages. Write the OTP and WhatsApp templates in Gulf-friendly Arabic, with an English version for UAE expats.

Our guide to Arabic Shopify themes covers the rest of the RTL setup.

Worked example: a Riyadh store with 600 COD orders

Picture a Riyadh beauty store with 600 COD orders a month at SAR 230 each. About 15% of its parcels come back refused.

It installs EasySell Advanced for the form, WhatsApp OTP and deposits, then adds CODSaver on its own WhatsApp number. Here's what the stack costs each month:

ItemMonthly cost
EasySell AdvancedUSD 24.95
CODSaver Own Number StarterUSD 5.00
Meta fees, 600 WhatsApp OTP codesUSD 6.42
Meta fees, 600 confirmationsUSD 6.42
TotalUSD 42.79 (about SAR 160)

Now the payoff. Each refused parcel on a SAR 230 order burns about SAR 78 in shipping, handling and ad spend. An order cancelled before dispatch loses only the SAR 40 of ad spend.

Per monthBeforeAfter

Lost on cancellationsSAR 0SAR 1,200
Lost on refusalsSAR 7,020SAR 3,276
Total COD lossSAR 7,020SAR 4,476

The store keeps about SAR 2,500 a month and delivers 18 more paid orders. That's for SAR 160 of apps and messages.

How to set up your COD app stack

  1. 1

    Turn on Cash on Delivery

In Settings > Payments > Manual payment methods, add Cash on Delivery and connect a COD-capable courier such as Aramex, SMSA or J&T.

  2. 2

    Install one COD form app

Pick EasySell or Releasit COD Form, translate every label into Arabic and turn on SMS or WhatsApp OTP.

  3. 3

    Set your COD rules

Add a small COD fee or a prepaid discount, cap COD on high-value carts and ask repeat refusers to prepay.

  4. 4

    Add WhatsApp confirmation

Send a confirm button within 2–4 hours of each order and cancel orders nobody confirms within your window.

  5. 5

    Keep online payment visible

Place a clear Pay online button for mada, Apple Pay, Tabby and Tamara next to the COD button.

  6. 6

    Track results weekly

Watch confirmation rate, refusals by city and cost per delivered order, then tighten rules where refusals cluster.

Notes for Saudi stores

  • Ask for the Short Address. Saudi parcels need a valid National Address, so add a required Short Address field to your COD form.
  • Expect higher COD at launch. Sellers launching new Saudi brands report COD at 40–60% of first orders, so set up confirmation before your first ad campaign.
  • Fire your Snapchat pixel from the form. Both leading form apps support it, and Snapchat is a major traffic source for Saudi stores.

Notes for UAE stores

  • COD is a smaller share. In the card-first UAE, plan on COD at about 15–30% of orders, and steer the rest to Apple Pay and cards.
  • Capture building and landmark. Vague addresses are a top RTO cause in Dubai, so make both fields required on your form.
  • Send bilingual messages. Many UAE buyers are expats, so offer English and Arabic WhatsApp templates.

Notes for Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman

  • Budget more for WhatsApp in Kuwait. A utility message there costs about USD 0.044, roughly four times the Saudi rate.
  • Mind the decimals. Kuwaiti, Bahraini and Omani currencies use three decimal places, so round COD totals to amounts drivers can collect easily.

Notes for cross-border sellers

  • COD needs local stock. Cross-border COD is slow and returns are costly, so most foreign and Chinese sellers offer COD through a Gulf 3PL.
  • Pick a remitting partner. You'll need a local bank account or a fulfilment partner that pays COD cash abroad. Compare COD logistics providers on remittance speed.

Frequently asked questions

Not as a real fee line. Shopify's built-in Cash on Delivery method has no surcharge setting, so stores either raise shipping rates for everyone or install an app. Releasit COD Fee and Codify add a fixed or percentage fee to COD orders only, and both can hide COD on carts you don't want to risk.
