- Eight gateways connect to Shopify in Saudi Arabia: Tap, Telr, Amazon Payment Services, Geidea, HyperPay, PayTabs, Checkout.com and ClickPay. Moyasar has no official Shopify app.
- Tap's Native Checkout app shows mada and Apple Pay inside Shopify's own checkout, which suits Saudi shoppers best.
- Published mada rates are about 1%. Amazon Payment Services bills Apple Pay at its card rate, even when a mada card sits inside.
- Shopify adds 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, 0.6% on Advanced and 0.2% on Plus to every gateway order. Cash on delivery is exempt.
- Pick by checkout first, then price. A gateway that shows Apple Pay in Shopify checkout usually beats a slightly cheaper redirect plugin.
Saudi shoppers are ready to pay online. Most tap a mada card through Apple Pay, and they expect your checkout to make that easy.
On Shopify, that's your gateway's job. Shopify Payments doesn't work in Saudi Arabia, so you connect an outside gateway instead.
The good news? You've got eight solid options, and the best ones put mada and Apple Pay right inside Shopify's checkout.
Here's how they rank, what each one charges and which one fits your store. If you're still checking whether Shopify Payments is an option, start with is Shopify Payments available in Saudi Arabia?
The best Shopify payment gateways in Saudi Arabia, ranked
We ranked each gateway on what matters most on Shopify. That's how it shows up in checkout, mada and Apple Pay support, clear pricing and easy setup.
1. Tap Payments: best overall
Tap's "Native Checkout" app has been on the Shopify App Store since August 2023. It puts mada, Apple Pay, Visa, Mastercard and Amex inside Shopify's own checkout, so shoppers pay without a redirect.
- Pricing: quote-based. Ask for mada and Apple Pay on mada at the same rate.
- Watch out for: STC Pay isn't in the native app. Add it through a second gateway if you need it.
2. Telr: best published rate card
Telr appears on Shopify's Saudi provider list and publishes a Saudi rate card. Mada costs 1%, and mada inside Apple Pay is charged at the mada rate.
- Pricing: credit cards cost 2.6–3% plus SAR 1, while STC Pay is cheaper than mada. Its rate is 0.9%. Plans run SAR 99–259 a month.
- Watch out for: ask how Apple Pay appears in your Shopify checkout before you sign.
3. Amazon Payment Services: best for STC Pay
APS (formerly PayFort) has had a Shopify App Store app since 2022. It publishes every Saudi rate, including STC Pay at 0.9%.
- Pricing: mada costs 1%. Credit cards cost 2.8% plus SAR 1 per payment. The account costs SAR 200 a month, and STC Pay has a SAR 500 setup fee.
- Watch out for: APS bills Apple Pay at its card rate, even with a mada card inside. On an Apple Pay-heavy store, that adds up fast.
4. Geidea: best with BNPL built in
Geidea's App Store app launched in May 2025. It covers mada, Visa, Mastercard, Amex and UnionPay, plus Tabby and Tamara in the same app.
- Pricing: quote-based, set per merchant.
- Watch out for: the app listing doesn't include Apple Pay or STC Pay. Ask Geidea whether they're on the roadmap, and sign your own Tabby and Tamara contracts.
5. HyperPay: a strong Riyadh option
HyperPay is Riyadh-based and says it holds a Saudi Central Bank licence. Its App Store app has been live since December 2022.
- Pricing: quote-based.
- Watch out for: the app listing doesn't name Apple Pay or STC Pay, and HyperPay switches methods on per account. Get Apple Pay confirmed in writing, then test it on a live order.
6. PayTabs: quick plugin setup
PayTabs connects through a plugin you install from its own dashboard, not the App Store. Shoppers pay on PayTabs' payment page, with mada, cards and STC Pay.
- Pricing: its Paymes plan costs SAR 49 a month. Mada costs 1% on this plan. Credit cards cost 2.25% plus SAR 1 per payment. Ask whether those rates apply to your Shopify plugin.
- Watch out for: the plugin doesn't support Apple Pay.
7. Checkout.com: best for large brands
Checkout.com is a global acquirer with a Riyadh office. It supports mada for Saudi merchants on Shopify through its offsite integration.
- Pricing: flat rate or interchange++ on quote. Interchange++ passes on the card network's cost plus a margin.
- Watch out for: domestic mada needs a separate contract with a local acquirer. It's built for high-volume stores.
8. ClickPay: simple STC Pay add-on
ClickPay is a Riyadh gateway with an App Store app since July 2022. It handles mada, cards and STC Pay on a hosted payment page.
- Pricing: quote-based.
- Watch out for: no Apple Pay in the app, which is a big gap for Saudi mobile shoppers.
What about Moyasar?
Moyasar is one of Saudi Arabia's most popular gateways, but it has no official Shopify app. It's a great pick on Salla, Zid or WooCommerce, not on Shopify.
Shopify gateways compared: fees, Apple Pay, STC Pay and payouts
Only three of the eight publish Saudi rates. The rest quote on application, which is normal, and a written offer can beat a published card.
| Gateway | mada | Credit cards | Apple Pay on Shopify | STC Pay | Payouts | Setup and monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tap Payments | Quote | Quote | In checkout, quoted | Not in app | 2–5 days | App Store app |
| Telr (KSA) | 1% | 2.6–3% + SAR 1 | Mada rate on mada cards | 0.9% | Ask | Provider list, SAR 99–259/month |
| Amazon Payment Services | 1% | 2.8% + SAR 1 | 2.8% + SAR 1 (card rate) | 0.9% + SAR 500 setup | 2–5 days | App Store app, SAR 200/month |
| Geidea | Quote | Quote | Not in app listing | Not in app listing | Ask | App Store app |
| HyperPay | Quote | Quote | Per account, confirm first | Not in app listing | 1–2 days | App Store app |
| PayTabs | 1% (Paymes plan) | 2.25% + SAR 1 (Paymes plan) | Next day | Dashboard plugin, SAR 49/month (Paymes) | ||
| Checkout.com | Quote | Quote | Ask | Ask | 1–3 days | Offsite integration |
| ClickPay | Quote | Quote | Ask | App Store app |
Why is mada so cheap? It's Saudi Arabia's national debit network, and SAMA (the Saudi Central Bank) caps online mada fees at 1.75%. Any mada quote above that is a red flag.
The full breakdown of fixed, refund and chargeback fees is in our guide to payment gateway fees in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
What Shopify adds on top of your gateway fee
Every Saudi Shopify store pays a second fee. Because Shopify Payments isn't available, Shopify charges a third-party transaction fee on each order paid through an outside gateway.
Here's what it costs by plan:
- Basic: 2% of each order.
- Grow: 1%.
- Advanced: 0.6%.
- Plus: 0.2%.
Cash on delivery and bank transfers are exempt. Tabby and Tamara orders aren't, because they install as outside payment apps.
Worked example: a SAR 50,000 month on Shopify Grow
Say your store takes SAR 50,000 a month across 250 orders. Mada brings in SAR 30,000, and half of that is tapped through Apple Pay. Credit cards bring in the other SAR 20,000.
Here's that month at APS and Telr, with 15% VAT on the gateway fee. PayTabs is left out because its plugin has no Apple Pay.
| Fee line | Amazon Payment Services | Telr (KSA) |
|---|---|---|
| Mada by card (SAR 15,000) | SAR 150 | SAR 150 |
| Mada inside Apple Pay (SAR 15,000) | SAR 495 (card rate) | SAR 150 |
| Credit cards (SAR 20,000, 100 orders) | SAR 660 | SAR 620–700 |
| Monthly fee | SAR 200 | SAR 99–259 |
| VAT on gateway fees | SAR 226 | SAR 153–189 |
| Shopify Grow fee (1%) | SAR 500 | SAR 500 |
| Total | SAR 2,231 (4.5%) | SAR 1,672–1,948 (3.3–3.9%) |
Apple Pay decides this month. APS charges the card rate on it, which costs SAR 345 more than Telr's mada rate.
On Basic, Shopify's fee doubles to SAR 1,000. Grow costs about SAR 131 more a month on annual billing, so here it pays for itself almost four times over.
Plan prices by region are in our Shopify pricing guide for the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Quote-based gateways
These do not publish rates, so we can't rank them. Ask each for a written rate card split by method.
- Tap Payments — Native Shopify checkout app; mada, Apple Pay, Jaywan (UAE), KNET.
- HyperPay — Riyadh-based, Shopify app. Only third-party estimates exist.
- Moyasar — Saudi entities only (CR or freelance licence); STC Pay supported.
- Checkout.com — Enterprise acquirer, flat-rate or interchange++. mada for KSA entities only.

Which Shopify gateway fits your store?
Start with your shoppers. If most of them buy on iPhones, Apple Pay in checkout matters more than anything else.
Here's where we'd start:
- New store, mostly mobile shoppers. Tap, for mada and Apple Pay in Shopify checkout. Keep Telr or APS approved as a backup.
- Fashion and beauty. These lean heavily on Apple Pay, so ask every gateway to price mada inside Apple Pay at the mada rate.
- High-ticket electronics or furniture. Geidea, with Tabby and Tamara in one app. Compare the two in Tabby vs Tamara.
- You want STC Pay. APS or Telr, the two that publish an STC Pay rate. Our STC Pay on Shopify guide covers setup.
- Big brand on Shopify Plus. Checkout.com or a negotiated Tap or HyperPay quote, with Shopify's fee down to 0.2%.

Step-by-step setup and a launch test checklist are in our guide to mada on Shopify.
Notes for stores moving from Salla or Zid
- Payments were built in before. On Shopify, you sign your own gateway contract.
- Moyasar won't come with you. Pick a Shopify gateway and get approved before you migrate.
- Budget Shopify's fee. Salla and Zid don't charge one, and Shopify adds 0.2–2% by plan.
Planning the move? See our Salla to Shopify migration guide.
Notes for UAE and foreign companies
- Domestic mada needs a Saudi entity. Without a CR, mada cards go through as Visa or Mastercard, with more declines.
- A UAE company gets Shopify Payments, which takes cards and Apple Pay with no extra Shopify fee, but not mada itself.
- Plan the Saudi entity early. Once Saudi orders grow, a local gateway cuts fees and lifts approvals.

Frequently asked questions
Not Stripe. It doesn't onboard Saudi businesses, and in the GCC it only works for UAE companies. PayPal Express Checkout does appear on Shopify's Saudi provider list, but few Saudi shoppers look for it. Lead with mada and Apple Pay, then add PayPal only if you sell to many foreign buyers.
