Best VAT and Tax Consultants in the UAE for Ecommerce

A UAE tax consultant registers your company for VAT and corporate tax, files your quarterly VAT returns and yearly corporate tax return, and gets you ready for e-invoicing in 2027. Check they're an FTA-registered tax agent. Year one costs from about AED 1,345 with a budget agent to AED 6,500–24,000 with a full-service firm. Below are 10 independently researched firms.

Key takeaways
  • Every licensed UAE company registers for corporate tax, and VAT registration is mandatory above AED 375,000. Foreign sellers with UAE stock register for VAT from the first sale.
  • Late VAT registration costs AED 10,000, and so does late corporate tax registration.
  • E-invoicing goes live on 1 January 2027 for businesses with AED 50m+ revenue, and on 1 July 2027 for everyone else. Smaller firms appoint a provider by 31 March 2027.
  • Year one with a budget agent starts around AED 1,345. A full-service firm costs about AED 6,500–24,000 for the same filings.
  • Look the person up on the FTA's list of registered tax agents before you sign.

UAE tax is light by world standards. VAT is 5%, and most small online stores pay no corporate tax at all.

But light doesn't mean nothing to file. Every licensed company registers for corporate tax, many stores file VAT four times a year, and e-invoicing arrives in 2027.

That's the work a UAE tax consultant takes off your desk. Below you'll find what they handle each year, what year one costs in AED, how to check a tax agent, and 10 independently researched firms. For Saudi Arabia and the regional view, see our main list of VAT and tax advisors in the Middle East.

Do you need a tax consultant in the UAE?

If you hold a UAE licence, you have at least one filing a year. Whether you need help depends on how many you have:

  • New free zone or mainland company. Corporate tax registration is due within 3 months of incorporation. Small stores can claim Small Business Relief, but they still file a return.
  • Store above AED 375,000 of sales and imports. VAT registration is mandatory, and you file quarterly. You can opt in from AED 187,500.
  • Foreign seller with UAE stock. FBA, FBN or a 3PL in Dubai means there's no threshold. You register for VAT from the first sale.
  • Foreign seller shipping parcels. The courier pays import VAT to clear each parcel, so you usually don't register.

The rules themselves are in our guides to UAE VAT for ecommerce and UAE corporate tax.

What does a UAE tax agent do in a year?

A tax agent is a person or firm registered with the FTA (Federal Tax Authority) to file and deal with the FTA for you. For an online store, a typical year looks like this:

JobWhen it's dueWhat the agent does
VAT return28 days after each quarter endsMatches store, marketplace and import data, then files and pays
Import VATEach customs declarationLinks your customs code to your TRN, so import VAT is reverse-charged
Corporate tax return9 months after your financial year endsPrepares the return and elects Small Business Relief if you qualify
Small Business Relief checkEach year to the end of 2029Confirms revenue stays within AED 3m
Free zone rate checkEach yearTests whether any income qualifies for 0%
FTA queries and auditsWhen they arriveAnswers in writing and supplies records

The import line saves the most cash. A registered importer reports import VAT on the return and reclaims it in the same return, instead of paying it at the border.

The free zone check matters too. Online sales to UAE shoppers usually don't count as qualifying income, so most free zone stores pay the standard rates. Our free zone vs mainland guide explains why.

E-invoicing: the 2027 job to book now

The UAE is moving business invoices onto a national e-invoicing network. You send them through an ASP (accredited service provider), and the first phase covers business-to-business and business-to-government invoices.

There are two groups, split by revenue. The first is almost at its deadline:

RevenueAppoint an ASP byE-invoicing live from
AED 50m or more30 October 20261 January 2027
Under AED 50m31 March 20271 July 2027

Most online stores are in the second group. Here's how a tax agent usually gets you ready:

  1. 1

    Confirm your group

Check last year's revenue against the AED 50m line, and diary both of your dates.

  2. 2

    Map your invoices

List every invoice type you issue: wholesale orders, marketplace fees, credit notes and refunds.

  3. 3

    Shortlist ASPs

Compare providers that connect to your store platform, accounting software or ERP.

  4. 4

    Test before go-live

Send test invoices, check your TRN and VAT fields, then train whoever issues invoices.

Your consumer orders keep a normal tax invoice in the first phase. Sell wholesale or to other companies? Then your systems will need e-invoices by your go-live date.

What do tax consultants in the UAE charge?

Most quote a package per filing or a yearly retainer. Registration with the FTA is free, so you're paying for time and responsibility.

Worked example: year one for a small Dubai store

Say a free zone store sells AED 600,000 a year from a Dubai 3PL. It must register for VAT, and its revenue is well under the Small Business Relief cap. Here's year one at published 2026 prices, before the 5% VAT on the fees:

LineBudget agent (AED)Full-service firm (AED)
VAT registration500500–3,000
Four quarterly VAT returns596 (from 149 each)2,000–10,000
Corporate tax registration0 (done yourself on EmaraTax)1,500–3,500
Corporate tax return with Small Business Relief2492,500–7,500
Year-one totalAbout 1,3456,500–24,000

Bookkeeping usually sits on top of both columns. A budget agent files what you give it, while a full-service firm checks the numbers behind each return.

The budget route costs less than a seventh of one AED 10,000 late-registration penalty.

How do you check a UAE tax agent?

Start on the FTA website. It publishes a list of registered tax agents, so you can look up an agent and their TAAN (tax agent approval number).

Then check three things:

  • The person, not just the firm. Ask which named agent will be linked to your EmaraTax profile, and check that name on the list.
  • Ecommerce clients. Ask how they handle marketplace statements, COD, refunds and customs declarations.
  • Corporate tax know-how. Ask how they'd treat your free zone income and whether you qualify for Small Business Relief.

Notes for foreign and Chinese sellers

Notes for sellers also in Saudi Arabia

  • UAE registration doesn't cover Saudi sales. Saudi stock needs its own ZATCA VAT number at 15%.
  • Pick one firm with offices in both countries if you can. The location tags on each card above show where each firm works.
  • Two e-invoicing systems. Saudi Arabia runs Fatoora, so ask whether your agent handles both.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on your structure. A single free zone company with simple sales does well with a setup agent's tax desk, such as Shuraa Tax or Commitbiz. A growing store that also needs audit or bookkeeping suits a mid-tier firm like Crowe, Kreston Menon or BDO. Save the Big Four for groups and transfer pricing.
