Google Shopping in the UAE: Merchant Center Setup, Feeds and Ads

Google Shopping is fully live in the UAE, with prices in AED and feeds in English or Arabic. Open a Merchant Center account, send a feed with VAT-inclusive AED prices that match your product pages, and start with free listings. Then add a Performance Max or Standard Shopping campaign from about AED 100 a day.

Key takeaways
  • Google handles about 93% of searches in the UAE, and its Shopping tab is fully supported with AED prices.
  • Free listings cost nothing. Any store with a Merchant Center feed can appear in the Shopping tab without an ad budget.
  • Feed prices must be in AED, include the 5% VAT and match your product page exactly.
  • Run two feeds, English and Arabic. Each one must point to pages and a checkout in the same language.
  • Shopify, WooCommerce and Salla all have free official apps that build and sync the feed for you.

When someone in Dubai searches "running shoes" or "air fryer", Google shows a row of product photos with prices in AED. Those are Google Shopping results.

Your products can sit in that row too, and part of it is free. All you need is a Merchant Center account and a clean product feed.

Below you'll set up Merchant Center for the UAE, connect Shopify, WooCommerce or Salla, fix the usual disapprovals and plan a first month's budget in dirhams.

Why is Google Shopping worth it for UAE stores?

Shopping results show the product, photo and price before anyone clicks, so the people who click already like what they see. That suits the UAE:

  • Google is the only search engine that matters. One setup reaches almost every UAE searcher.
  • Shoppers compare prices. UAE buyers check Amazon.ae, noon and brand sites side by side, and Shopping puts you in that comparison.
  • One feed does everything. The same approved feed powers free listings and paid campaigns.

Free listings, Shopping ads and Performance Max: what's the difference?

All three run on the same feed. They differ in where your products appear and how much control you get.

OptionWhere products showCostBest for
Free listingsThe Shopping tab, Google Images, some search resultsFreeEvery store, from day one
Standard ShoppingSponsored product ads on Search and the Shopping tabPay per clickControl over bids per product
Performance Max (PMax)Search, Shopping, YouTube, Gmail, Display and MapsPay per click or viewStores with conversion data and a decent budget

Performance Max is Google's automated campaign that replaced Smart Shopping. It picks placements and bids for you.

So which should you pick? Turn on free listings first, then run Standard Shopping if you want tight control, or PMax if you have at least 30 sales a month for Google to learn from.

How do you set up Merchant Center for the UAE?

Setup takes an afternoon. Approval takes longer, so start well before a sale.

  1. 1

    Create the account

Sign up at merchants.google.com with your business name, address and phone number. Choose the United Arab Emirates as your business country if your company is based there.

  2. 2

    Verify and claim your website

Add Google's HTML tag through your store platform or Google Search Console. Your site must use your own domain, with HTTPS and a working checkout.

  3. 3

    Publish your store policies

Add a returns policy, shipping page and contact details that are easy to find. Google rejects stores that hide them.

  4. 4

    Add shipping and returns settings

Set delivery costs and times for the UAE, plus your return window and return cost. These show on your listings.

  5. 5

    Upload your feed

Connect your store app or upload a file. Set the country to the UAE, the currency to AED and the language to English or Arabic.

  6. 6

Turn on free listings and link Google Ads

Free listings are on by default for new accounts. Link Google Ads when you're ready for paid campaigns.

Which feed rules matter most in the UAE?

Three rules cause most UAE problems: price, VAT and language.

Your feed is the product data Google reads: titles, photos, prices and stock.

Prices in AED, with VAT included

UAE law says the price you show consumers must include VAT. The fine is AED 5,000 per violation.

Google's rule matches: the feed price must equal the final price on your product page, with the 5% VAT inside it. For example, a lamp that costs AED 200 before VAT goes in the feed at AED 210.

The same rule covers your site, ads and checkout, as our guide to VAT-inclusive pricing explains.

One feed per language, matched to the page

Google supports English and Arabic in the UAE. The catch is that the landing page, including the checkout steps, must be in the feed's language. An Arabic feed pointing to English pages or an English-only checkout gets disapproved.

So run two feeds. Start with English, since most UAE shoppers search in it, then add an Arabic feed with its own URLs. Our guide to bilingual SEO shows how to structure the two sets of pages.

How do you connect Shopify, WooCommerce or Salla?

Each platform has a free official app that builds the feed and keeps prices and stock in sync.

  • Shopify. Install the Google & YouTube app and pick the UAE market. It syncs products from each Shopify Market, so set AED prices and Arabic translations there first.
  • WooCommerce. Install the Google for WooCommerce plugin. Check that your store shows prices including tax, or your feed and pages will disagree.
  • Salla. Install the Google Merchant Center app from the Salla App Store. It gives you a feed link to paste into Merchant Center.

Shopify's checkout isn't pre-translated into Arabic, so translate its checkout strings before you launch an Arabic feed. Our Shopify GCC setup guide walks through Markets and languages.

How should you set up shipping and returns?

Shipping and returns appear right on your listings, and shoppers compare them as closely as price. Set them in Merchant Center, not in the product price:

  • Delivery cost. Free shipping above a basket size works well in the UAE. Add it as a rule, such as free above AED 150.
  • Delivery time. Next-day delivery is normal in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Set handling and transit days you can really hit.
  • Returns. Add your return window and who pays, matching the policy on your site.

Offer cash on delivery? Say so on your product pages, because it reassures first-time buyers.

What are the most common disapprovals, and how do you fix them?

Most disapprovals come from a mismatch between the feed and the page. Check the Diagnostics tab every week.

IssueUsual causeFix
Price mismatchFeed price without VAT, or a sale price not syncedRe-sync after every price change
Availability mismatchOut-of-stock items still marked in stockLet your store app sync stock automatically

Misrepresentation can suspend the whole account, so fix it first and then request a review.

How much does Google Shopping cost in the UAE?

Paid Shopping and PMax ads charge per click, and you set the daily budget. Dubai agency Leads Dubai puts typical UAE Shopping clicks at AED 1–5, with prices climbing around White Friday and Ramadan.

Worked example: AED 3,000 in the first month

Picture a Dubai homeware store with an average order of AED 250, VAT included. After product cost, delivery and payment fees, it keeps AED 100 per order, so that's the most it can spend on ads per order to break even.

It runs one Standard Shopping campaign at AED 100 a day.

A Dubai homeware store with an AED 250 average order. Click costs sit in the AED 1–5 range Leads Dubai reports for UAE Shopping ads (2026). Month 3 orders are rounded from 46.9.

ROAS is return on ad spend: revenue divided by ad spend. In month one, the store breaks even at AED 100 per order.

By month three, it keeps AED 36 per order, or about AED 1,700 for the month. That comes from sharper titles, negative keywords and moving budget to best-sellers.

How do you compete with Amazon.ae and noon?

Amazon.ae and noon bid on almost every generic product search. You won't outbid them on "phone case", and you don't need to. Win where they're weaker:

  • Specific titles. "Women's linen abaya, sand, size 54" beats "abaya" on intent and cost.
  • Arabic feeds. Fewer advertisers bid in Arabic, so clicks are often cheaper.
  • Your own brand terms. Shoppers who search your name should land on your store, not a reseller.
  • Products the marketplaces lack. Exclusive bundles and your own designs face no direct price comparison.

Plenty of brands run Shopping ads and a store on Amazon.ae side by side.

Notes for Saudi and GCC expansion

  • Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman are all supported in their own currencies. Qatar isn't on the list yet.
  • Saudi searchers lean Arabic, so lead with the Arabic feed there. Compare channels in our paid ads guide.

Notes for foreign brands shipping into the UAE

  • Show AED prices on your product pages, not just a converted total at checkout.
  • Set realistic delivery times for cross-border parcels. Promising next-day and taking a week earns bad reviews.
  • Charge duties and taxes up front, so the price on Google is the price the shopper pays.

Frequently asked questions

Product reviews usually finish within a few days, but a new account can take longer while Google checks your website and business details. Plan at least two weeks before a big sale like White Friday. Fix every warning in the Diagnostics tab first, because one account-level issue can hold back all your products.
