Key takeaways
  • TikTok's ad tools reach 38.6 million adults in Saudi Arabia, effectively everyone online.
  • Agencies report Saudi CPMs of roughly SAR 2–9, the cheapest reach of any major ad platform in the Gulf.
  • Set up the TikTok Pixel plus the Events API before your first ad. Salla, Zid and Shopify all have apps for it.
  • Start with In-Feed ads and Spark Ads in Saudi dialect, then add catalog ads for retargeting.
  • Budget at least $50 a day per campaign, and judge results on delivered orders, not platform-reported sales.

TikTok is where young Saudis find new things to buy. A 20-second video can introduce your brand to millions of people in a week.

It's also the cheapest attention you can buy in the Gulf. Agencies report paying about SAR 2–9 for every 1,000 views in Saudi Arabia.

The catch? TikTok rewards stores that set up tracking properly and make ads that feel like real TikTok videos.

Here's how to do both: formats, Pixel setup on Salla, Zid and Shopify, creative, costs and a first-month budget.

Why do TikTok ads work for Saudi stores?

TikTok reaches effectively every adult who's online in Saudi Arabia.

That reach comes with three advantages for sellers:

  • Discovery. The algorithm shows your video to people likely to care, even if they've never heard of you.
  • Cheap views. You can test new products and messages for a fraction of what Meta charges in the Gulf.
  • Creator culture. Saudis trust people they follow, and TikTok lets you turn creators' posts into ads.

TikTok traffic converts lower than search or Snapchat, though. It's a discovery channel, so plan to retarget viewers and capture them later.

Which TikTok ad formats should you use?

Most stores only need three formats. Start with In-Feed and Spark Ads, then add catalog ads once your Pixel has data.

FormatWhat it isUse it for
In-Feed adsYour own video in the For You feed, with a shop-now buttonTesting products, hooks and offers
Spark AdsA boosted organic post, yours or a creator's, with its likes and commentsBuilding trust fast with creator reviews
Video Shopping Ads (catalog)Videos and product cards pulled from your synced catalogShowing a range and retargeting product viewers

Spark Ads usually beat brand videos in Saudi Arabia, because they look like a recommendation, not an ad.

TikTok Shop's in-app checkout isn't live in the Gulf yet, so every format sends shoppers to your store. The latest status is in TikTok Shop in the Middle East.

How do you set up TikTok tracking on Salla, Zid and Shopify?

You need two pieces. The TikTok Pixel tracks shoppers in the browser, and the Events API sends each order straight from your store's server to TikTok.

Why both? Ad blockers, iPhone privacy rules and TikTok's in-app browser hide many browser events. The Events API fills the gaps, so TikTok learns who actually buys.

Here's where to set it up on each platform:

  • Salla. Install the TikTok Pixel – Catalog app from the Salla App Store. Salla Ads also lets you build a TikTok sales campaign inside your Salla dashboard.
  • Zid. Install the TikTok app from the Zid App Market and connect your TikTok Ads account, then switch on server events.
  • Shopify. Install TikTok's official app. It connects the Pixel, the Events API and your product catalog in one flow.

How do you launch your first campaign?

Keep the first campaign simple. One clear goal, one country and a handful of videos give TikTok the cleanest signal.

  1. 1

Open a TikTok for Business account

Sign up in Ads Manager and set your currency and time zone to Saudi Arabia. Check the sign-up page for new-advertiser credit.

  2. 2

    Choose the Sales objective

Optimise for purchases on your website, using the Pixel you installed.

  3. 3

    Target Saudi Arabia, broadly

Set the location, Arabic language and adults 18+. Leave interests open at first so the algorithm can search.

  4. 4

    Set your budget

Go above $50 a day per campaign and $20 per ad group. Fewer, better-funded ad groups learn faster.

  5. 5

    Upload 4–6 videos

Use the same idea with different openings, so you learn which hook stops the scroll.

  6. 6

    Wait out the learning phase

Don't edit for 7 days, or until the campaign has about 25 results. That's when TikTok says delivery settles.

Can your budget not reach 25 purchases a week? Optimise for add-to-cart first, then switch to purchases once orders build up.

What creative sells on Saudi TikTok?

Creative matters more than targeting on TikTok. The algorithm finds the audience; your video has to earn the watch.

What works in Saudi Arabia:

  • Saudi dialect. Use a Najdi or Hijazi voice-over. Formal Arabic sounds like a news bulletin.
  • A two-second hook. Open on the problem, the result or the product in hand.
  • Phone-shot, vertical 9:16. Real homes, cars and majlis settings beat studio sets.
  • Creators and customers. Unboxings, honest reviews and before-and-afters drive the most sales.
  • Price and delivery on screen. Show the riyal price, fast delivery and cash on delivery if you offer it.

Most winning Saudi TikTok ads are phone-shot, vertical and voiced in local dialect.

Paid creator posts in Saudi Arabia need a Mawthooq licence, and the ad must be labelled from the start. Read how the Mawthooq licence works before you sign anyone.

How much do TikTok ads cost in Saudi Arabia?

Saudi TikTok ads cost roughly SAR 2–9 per 1,000 views, a measure called CPM. Clicks run under SAR 1 for many stores.

Here's what two agencies report:

  • Karaz, a Saudi agency, ran SAR 278,911 across five beauty and food brands. It paid a CPM of about SAR 2.37 and a CPC (cost per click) of about SAR 0.83.
  • 23HubLab puts typical Saudi TikTok CPMs at SAR 4.50–9.

Prices climb in Ramadan, around Saudi National Day and in White Friday week. Plan your test for a quieter month, and see the Ramadan marketing guide for peak-season timing.

Worked example: a SAR 12,000 first month

Say you sell a SAR 220 men's grooming kit from a Salla store. You keep about SAR 110 per order after product, shipping and fees.

About 1 in 10 orders gets refused at the door, which is normal for a new brand that offers cash on delivery.

You split SAR 12,000 into three phases:

Month 1 TikTok budget
TotalSAR 12,000

Source: MiddleEastEcom first-month plan

At Karaz's CPC of SAR 0.83, the month buys about 14,460 clicks. Here's how two conversion rates play out:

Month 1Cold trafficAfter fixes
Clicks14,46014,460
Conversion rate0.8%1.2%
Orders116174
Delivered (10% refused)104157
Cost per delivered orderSAR 115SAR 76
Profit per order before adsSAR 110SAR 110
CPC: Karaz account data for five Saudi brands (2026). Conversion rates: Sky Light's Saudi store example, 0.8% rising to 1.2% after fixes (2026).

At 0.8%, you lose a little on every order. Better hooks, Spark Ads and a faster Arabic product page can lift conversion to 1.2%. Then each delivered order costs SAR 76, well under its SAR 110 profit.

That's the pattern to aim for. Month one buys data, and the videos that win become your profit engine. More conversion benchmarks are in Saudi conversion rates.

Notes for UAE sellers

  • Run a separate UAE campaign, with prices in AED and English-first creative plus Arabic versions.
  • In the UAE, Instagram and TikTok carry more weight than Snapchat, so pair TikTok with Meta there.
  • Saudi dialect ads won't land as well in Dubai. Use Gulf or neutral Arabic for Emirati audiences.

Notes for marketplace sellers

  • You can point TikTok ads at your noon or Amazon listing, but the Pixel can't track sales there.
  • Use UTM links and watch your marketplace sales by day to estimate TikTok's effect.
  • Once a product proves itself, consider your own store so TikTok can learn from real purchases. Weighing a second channel too? Our Snapchat ads guide for Saudi Arabia covers its formats and budgets, and the paid ads hub has the full channel mix.

Frequently asked questions

TikTok Ads Manager needs more than $50 a day per campaign and $20 a day per ad group, about SAR 190 and SAR 75. For a meaningful first test, plan around SAR 10,000–12,000 for four weeks. That buys enough clicks to see which videos sell.
