- Five GCC currencies are pegged to the US dollar, and the Kuwaiti dinar tracks a basket. A USD price list converts without FX surprises.
- VAT is 15% in Saudi Arabia, 10% in Bahrain and 5% in the UAE and Oman. Qatar and Kuwait have none.
- Shoppers in Saudi Arabia and the UAE expect prices with VAT included, so add it before you round.
- Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman price to three decimals, so KWD 6.190 looks natural where 6.19 doesn't.
Selling across the Gulf means six currencies, four VAT rates and two decimal systems. Pricing for all of them can take an afternoon.
This tool does it in seconds. Enter one base price and you'll get a shelf price for each GCC market, with VAT added, rounded the local way and shown in English and Arabic.
GCC price localizer
Turn one base price into six shelf prices, with VAT, local rounding and Arabic display
Markup is applied, then local VAT is added on top.
Consumer prices in KSA and the UAE are expected to include VAT.
Optional % added to the net price per market (e.g. to cover duty, shipping or BNPL fees).
Prices ending in 9 (SAR 99, 149, 199; AED 49, 99) dominate on noon, Amazon.sa and Shein (observation). For 3-decimal currencies this gives x.x90 endings.

Your font supports the new Saudi riyal sign (U+20C1), so SAR prices use it. SAMA guidance puts the riyal sign to the left of the number, with a space, in every language. The text abbreviation ر.س is usually written after the number in Arabic.
KWD is pegged to an undisclosed basket, so its rate moves slightly. ≈0.31 per USD is an approximation; review it quarterly.
Estimates based on published pegs and VAT rates as of Oct 2026. Rounding norms are market observations. Confirm VAT display rules with ZATCA / the FTA and your payment provider's currency rules.
How to use the price localizer
- 1
Enter your base price
Pick USD, CNY or EUR and type your price. For CNY or EUR, enter the exchange rate you actually use; the default is only a sample.
- 2
Say whether it includes tax
Choose pre-tax if your price is a net figure. Choose tax-inclusive if you want the same gross price in every country.
- 3
Keep VAT-inclusive prices switched on
Saudi and UAE shoppers expect the shelf price to include VAT. Switch it off only for B2B quotes.
- 4
Pick a rounding style
Choose from charm endings (.99 or .95), round numbers ending in 5 or 0, prices ending in 9, or the exact conversion.
- 5
Add a markup per country (optional)
Add a percentage to the net price in any market, for example to cover duty, shipping or BNPL fees.
How the localizer works
The tool converts your price to US dollars, then into each local currency at its official peg. Here are the numbers it uses:
| Market | Currency | Per 1 USD | Decimals | VAT |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia | SAR | 3.75 | 2 | 15% |
| UAE | AED | 3.6725 | 2 | 5% |
| Qatar | QAR | 3.64 | 2 | None |
| Kuwait | KWD | about 0.31 | 3 | None |
| Bahrain | BHD | 0.376 | 3 | 10% |
| Oman | OMR | 0.3845 | 3 | 5% |
Next, it applies your markup and adds local VAT. Then it rounds to the nearest price point in your chosen style. "Nearest" can mean down as well as up, and the tool shows the change against the exact price.
A few details it handles for you:
- Three-decimal currencies. Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman split their currency into 1,000 fils or baisa. Charm prices end in .990 or .950. The tool also flags any price whose last digit isn't zero, which some gateways reject.
- The Kuwaiti dinar. It's pegged to an undisclosed basket of currencies, so its rate moves a little. Review it every quarter.
- The new Saudi riyal sign. SAR prices use the new symbol (U+20C1) when your font supports it, placed left of the number with a space. If it doesn't, the tool falls back to "SAR".
- Arabic display. Each price is previewed the way it would appear on an Arabic page, with the text abbreviation after the number, such as ر.س.
Worked example: a $19.99 product
Say you sell a $19.99 phone case and want prices that end in 9. Here's what the tool returns with VAT included:
| Market | Exact conversion | Ends in 9 |
|---|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia | SAR 86.21 | SAR 89.00 |
| UAE | AED 77.08 | AED 79.00 |
| Qatar | QAR 72.76 | QAR 69.00 |
| Kuwait | KWD 6.197 | KWD 6.190 |
| Bahrain | BHD 8.268 | BHD 8.290 |
| Oman | OMR 8.070 | OMR 8.090 |
Saudi Arabia lands at SAR 89, and VAT accounts for SAR 11.61 of that. Qatar rounds down by about 5%, since 69 is closer than 79.

Frequently asked questions
No. Show SAR, AED and the other local currencies. Because the currencies are pegged, you can keep a fixed local price list in Shopify Markets or Salla instead of letting prices float with exchange rates.
