- Eid al-Adha 2027 is expected on Sunday 16 May, with the Day of Arafah on Saturday 15 May. Dates can move by a day after moon sighting.
- Saudi private-sector workers get four days off from Arafah, so plan on 15–18 May. Saudi schools break for about two weeks from 7 May.
- Fragrance, Eid outfits, home and hosting goods, grills and travel gear lead. Electronics and household goods top Saudi orders.
- Publish an order-by date around 10–12 May. Couriers slow down or pause for 2–4 days over Eid.
- Every Saudi sale needs a SAR 300 Ministry of Commerce discount licence. Ad auctions are calmer than in Ramadan or November.
Eid al-Adha is the Gulf's second big Eid, and it's easy to underrate. It comes about ten weeks after Eid al-Fitr, when many brands have gone quiet.
That's your opening. Families are hosting, travelling and buying gifts, and ad auctions are calmer than in Ramadan or November.
In 2027, the Day of Arafah falls on Saturday 15 May, with Eid the next day. Here's how to plan it, from dates and delivery cut-offs to ad costs and a worked promo plan. It's one of the peaks in our seasonal marketing hub.
When is Eid al-Adha 2027?
Eid al-Adha 2027 is expected on Sunday 16 May. It always falls on 10 Dhu al-Hijjah, the day after the Day of Arafah, when Hajj pilgrims gather on Mount Arafat.
Dates follow the Saudi moon-sighting announcement, so build a one-day buffer into every plan. Here are the dates that shape your season:
| Date (2027, est.) | What happens | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| ~Fri 7 May | 1 Dhu al-Hijjah | The ten blessed days begin. Saudi schools close until about 22 May |
| ~Fri 14 May | Hajj begins | Pilgrims head to Mina. The holiday mood builds |
| Sat 15 May | Day of Arafah | Saudi private-sector holiday starts. Many people fast |
| ~Sun 16 May | Eid al-Adha | Prayers, sacrifice, family visits and gifts |
| Sun 16 – Wed 19 May | Eid and the days of Tashreeq | Saudi workers return on about Wed 19 May |
Need a benchmark? In 2026, Eid fell on Wednesday 27 May, the day after Arafah. Eid moves about 11 days earlier each year, so compare against the same Hijri dates, not the same calendar week.
The 2027 timing helps you. A long school break plus a four-day work holiday means families are home, online and planning trips. See every Gulf peak side by side in our ecommerce calendar.
How is Eid al-Adha different from Eid al-Fitr?
Eid al-Fitr ends a month of fasting, so its shopping builds slowly through Ramadan. Eid al-Adha's run-up is shorter and sharper. Demand climbs over about two weeks, peaks just before Arafah, then shifts to hosting and travel.
Three things set it apart:
- Hajj is the backdrop. Saudi Arabia hosts the pilgrimage, so the mood is spiritual and proud, especially in Makkah and Jeddah.
- It's a hosting holiday. The sacrifice (udhiyah) means big family meals, shared meat and lots of guests.
- It's a travel holiday. A long break sends many families on trips, inside the Kingdom and abroad.
So keep your Ramadan playbook for Ramadan. Our Ramadan marketing guide covers the late-night shopping and Eid al-Fitr gifting peak.
What sells for Eid al-Adha?
Gifts, outfits and anything for hosting sell best. Admitad tracked more than 150,000 Eid al-Adha orders across the region. Here's what Saudi shoppers bought:
Electronics lead because Eid is when families upgrade phones and give gadgets as gifts. In the UAE, household goods top the list at 23.4% of orders, just ahead of electronics.
- Fragrance, oud and bakhoor. Fragrance is the top Eid gift in Saudi Arabia, chosen by 50% of gift buyers (Toluna). Gift boxes and bakhoor for guests both sell.
- Eid outfits. New clothes for Eid morning are a tradition. Abayas, thobes, shemaghs and kids' clothes peak in the week before.
- Home and hosting. Serving trays, coffee and tea sets, dallahs, large cooking pots and dinnerware. Families feed a lot of guests.
- Grills and outdoor cooking. Barbecues, charcoal, skewers and camping gear, because much of the meat is grilled at home or in the desert.
- Meat prep and storage. Butcher knives, cutting boards, freezer bags, vacuum sealers, cooler boxes and chest freezers.
- Travel. Luggage, travel adaptors, kids' travel gear, sunglasses and portable chargers ahead of the school break.
- Gift cards and sweets. Last-minute favourites that don't need delivery before Eid.

What about livestock and meat delivery apps?
Buying the sacrifice is now a digital habit. In Saudi Arabia, the official Adahi project sells udhiyah vouchers through its site and through bank apps. The Ehsan platform takes orders too, and private livestock and butcher apps deliver cut, packed meat to the door.
Selling animals yourself needs a licensed livestock business. But the apps create demand you can catch.
Shoppers who order meat online still need knives, storage, grills and serving sets. Target "udhiyah" and "Eid meat" searches with bundles built around them.

Delivery cut-offs and courier closures
Couriers slow down or pause for 2–4 days over Eid al-Adha. Saudi private-sector staff get four days off from Arafah. So expect thin service from Saturday 15 May to Tuesday 18 May.
The fix is simple: tell customers when to order. Here's a safe set of order-by dates for 2027:
| Delivery type | Order by | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Nationwide standard (2–4 days) | Mon 10 May | Leaves a buffer before the Friday weekend |
| Next day in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam | Wed 12 May | Last full working day before the weekend and Arafah |
| Same day in big cities | Thu 13 May, morning | Many same-day services take orders until about 9am |
| Gift cards and e-vouchers | Any time | Instant delivery, so push them from 13 May |
Normal service usually resumes from about Wednesday 19 May.

Tone, greetings and imagery
Eid al-Adha is a religious holiday first and a sale second. The right tone is warm, generous and family-centred. Think sharing, hospitality and gratitude, not "crazy deals".
Use the greetings people actually say:
| Greeting | Meaning | When to use |
|---|---|---|
| عيد أضحى مبارك | Blessed Eid al-Adha | Banners, emails and packaging inserts |
| عيد مبارك | Blessed Eid | Short social posts and push messages |
| كل عام وأنتم بخير | May you be well every year | Warm sign-off for messages and thank-you cards |
| Eid al-Adha Mubarak | English greeting | English pages and expat audiences |
A few imagery rules keep you safe:
- Show the celebration, not the slaughter. Family tables, guests, gifts and Eid outfits work. Avoid blood, knives in action or graphic animal images.
- Treat Hajj with respect. Don't use the Kaaba or pilgrims as a sales prop. A crescent, lanterns or geometric patterns are safer.
- Keep Arafah calm. Many people fast on the Day of Arafah. Hold loud flash sales and food-heavy posts for the evening.
Our cultural localization guide covers modesty, colours and religious symbols in more depth.
Do you need a discount licence for an Eid sale?
Yes. Every sale campaign in Saudi Arabia needs a discount licence from the Ministry of Commerce, including online stores.
It takes minutes. You apply at sales.mc.gov.sa, pay SAR 300 per store and the licence is issued straight away.
Set the licence dates to cover your whole campaign, from launch in late April to the end of Tashreeq. The full rules are in our guide to pricing in SAR and AED.
What do ads cost around Eid al-Adha?
Less than in the other big peaks. Ramadan, White Friday and the national days push auction prices up hard, while Eid al-Adha is a shorter, calmer window.
CPM is the cost per 1,000 impressions. In Superads' UAE figures, Facebook's CPM hit USD 23.52 in November 2025. May 2026, the month of Eid al-Adha, was the year's low at USD 8.92.
So what should you do?
- Spend early. Build audiences and test creative in late April, while prices are low.
- Go hard in the final week. Push gift, outfit and hosting ads from about 8 to 13 May, before the cut-offs.
- Switch to digital and travel. From 14 May, promote gift cards, e-vouchers and travel gear with clear post-Eid delivery dates.
Snapchat and TikTok reach the most Saudi shoppers. Our Snapchat ads guide covers formats and budgets.

Worked example: a Riyadh hosting store
Let's build a promo plan for a small Saudi store selling serving and coffee sets. Its best-seller is an Eid hosting set at SAR 399, VAT included.
For Eid al-Adha it offers 15% off 60% of its range, which meets the licence rules. The hosting set drops to SAR 339.
| Normal week | Eid al-Adha | |
|---|---|---|
| Shelf price (VAT included) | SAR 399 | SAR 339 |
| Price before 15% VAT | SAR 347 | SAR 295 |
| Landed product cost | SAR 150 | SAR 150 |
| Delivery and payment fees | SAR 40 | SAR 40 |
| Profit per order | SAR 157 | SAR 105 |
| Orders to earn SAR 7,850 | 50 | 75 |
The discount cuts profit per order by a third. So the store needs 1.5 times its usual orders to stand still.
Cheap media closes that gap. Here's what a SAR 6,000 ad budget buys at Superads' UAE CPMs, converted at the pegged rate of SAR 3.75 per dollar:
| CPM | Cost per 1,000 impressions (SAR) | Impressions for SAR 6,000 |
|---|---|---|
| USD 8.92 (May low) | 33.45 | about 179,400 |
| USD 23.52 (Nov peak) | 88.20 | about 68,000 |
The same money buys about 2.6 times more reach in May.
Here's the plan the store runs:
- Late April: launch an "Eid hosting bundle" (set plus a bakhoor burner) at 10% off, raising the basket above SAR 450.
- 7 May: email and WhatsApp blast for the ten days. Lead with the 15% sale and free delivery over SAR 300.
- 10–12 May: "Order by Monday for delivery before Eid" banners and Snapchat ads.
- 13–18 May: push e-gift cards for late shoppers. Open pre-orders on hosting sets for delivery from 19 May.
- 19–25 May: ship pre-orders and send a thank-you code for the summer.
Notes for marketplace sellers
- Watch Seller Lab and Seller Central from March. noon and Amazon brief sellers on Eid deal types and check-in dates ahead of time.
- Plan for slow returns. Eid orders often come back in late May, once the holiday ends. Keep stock and staff ready.
- Price from a real "was" price. Deal pages show strike-through prices, so your earlier price must be genuine.
Notes for foreign and Chinese sellers
- Order during Ramadan. Stock for mid-May needs to ship by late February. Chinese factories also restart slowly after the Lunar New Year, so book production in January.
- Check your packaging. Ask for Eid designs without Quranic text, the Kaaba or animal images on boxes and bags that get thrown away.
- Ship by air if you're late. Air takes 2–7 days, which still works for an early-May arrival. See shipping from China to Saudi Arabia.
Notes for UAE-based sellers
- Set separate UAE cut-offs. The UAE announces its Eid holiday shortly before the date. Update your UAE order-by banner when it does.
- Lean into travel. Many UAE residents fly home or travel over Eid. Luggage, travel tech and kids' gear sell well in the run-up.
- Follow Saudi rules on Saudi sales. If you ship into the Kingdom, the licence and 10% minimum still apply there.
Frequently asked questions
Usually not. Eid al-Fitr closes a month of Ramadan shopping, so it gets more build-up. Eid al-Adha's run-up is shorter and more focused on hosting, family meals, travel and gifts. That makes it a strong, cheaper second peak rather than a rival.
