- UAE e-invoicing goes live on 1 January 2027 for businesses with AED 50m+ revenue and on 1 July 2027 for smaller ones.
- Each business must appoint an accredited service provider (ASP). Ask your accounting software which ASP it works with.
- Zoho Books is free under AED 200,000 revenue. Its Shopify integration starts on the Elite plan at AED 280 a month, billed yearly.
- Sellers on Amazon.ae, noon and their own store add an OMS such as Unicommerce, or a 3PL with built-in software such as Locad.
- A Shopify store doing 400 orders a month can run accounting and WhatsApp for about AED 500 a month, before Meta's message fees.
UAE store owners have one software deadline to plan for right now: e-invoicing.
From 2027, UAE businesses move to structured electronic invoices sent through an accredited provider. The largest companies must pick that provider by 30 October 2026, and smaller ones follow next year.
Choose your accounting tool well and the switch is a setting. Choose badly and you'll migrate your books in a hurry.
Below you'll find the e-invoicing dates, the tools that run a UAE store across Amazon.ae, noon and Shopify, what they cost in AED and 9 independently researched providers. For the regional view and the full stack by stage, see our main list of ecommerce software providers in the Middle East.
What software does a UAE online store need?
Most UAE stores sell in more than one place. A typical brand runs its own Shopify or WooCommerce site and also lists on Amazon.ae and noon.
That shapes the stack. Here's what each setup usually adds:
| Own store only | Own store + marketplaces | Selling UAE + Saudi | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Accounting and e-invoicing | Zoho Books or Wafeq | Zoho Books or Wafeq, linked to an ASP | One tool covering FTA and ZATCA rules |
| Stock and orders | Store platform | OMS such as Unicommerce | OMS or a 3PL with its own OMS, such as Locad |
| Shipping software | Courier apps or OTO | OMS or 3PL handles it | OTO, or the 3PL |
| Wati or Zoko | Wati, Zoko or Mottasl | Wati, Zoko or Mottasl | |
| Arabic listening | Not needed yet | Lucidya for larger brands | Lucidya or Unifonic |

UAE e-invoicing: what your software must do
UAE e-invoicing sends invoices as structured data through an accredited service provider (ASP), rather than as PDFs. Your accounting software creates the invoice, and the ASP delivers and reports it.
The deadlines depend on revenue:
| Business size | Appoint an ASP by | E-invoicing mandatory from |
|---|---|---|
| Revenue AED 50m or more | 30 October 2026 | 1 January 2027 |
| Revenue under AED 50m | 31 March 2027 | 1 July 2027 |
Most online stores sit in the second group. That gives you until spring 2027 to choose, but software changes take time to test.
Your ASP doesn't have to be your accounting vendor. What matters is that the two connect cleanly, so each invoice leaves your books and reaches the ASP without anyone retyping it.
Here's how to get ready:
- 1
Confirm your VAT position
VAT is 5%, and registration is mandatory above AED 375,000 in taxable supplies. A tax agent can say which of your invoices are in scope.
- 2
Ask your accounting vendor about its ASP
Get the partner's name, the extra cost and the date the connection goes live.
- 3
Connect your sales channels
Store, marketplace and B2B orders should flow into the accounting tool automatically, not by CSV.
- 4
Test with real invoices
Send a batch of test invoices through the ASP before your go-live date.
VAT rules for online sellers are covered in our UAE VAT guide.

| Professional | 90 | Adds an e-invoicing add-on |
| Elite | 280 | Shopify integration, up to 2 stores |

Which tools sync stock across Amazon.ae, noon and your store?
An order management system (OMS) keeps one stock count for every channel, so the last unit can't sell twice.
UAE sellers have two main routes:
- An OMS. Unicommerce lists noon among its marketplace connectors. Its Growth plan covers 10–5,000 orders a month.
- A 3PL with its own OMS. Locad lists GCC centres at Umm Ramool, Dubai South and Dubai Investments Park, plus one in Saudi Arabia. Software and storage then sit in one contract.
Larger retailers running their own fleet look at Shipsy, an enterprise delivery platform aimed at very high volumes.

Do UAE stores need shipping software?
Not always. Many UAE stores ship most orders inside Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, where one or two couriers cover the job.
Shipping software starts to pay off in three cases:
- You use several couriers. One dashboard compares rates and prints labels in bulk.
- You ship to Saudi Arabia too. OTO serves both countries and publishes plans in SAR, from free under 50 orders a month.
- You take a lot of COD. Reconciliation reports show which courier still owes you cash.
If a 3PL packs your orders, its own system usually books the couriers, so you may not need a separate tool. Compare courier options in our list of last-mile delivery companies in the UAE.
WhatsApp and customer tools for UAE stores
UAE shoppers expect quick replies on WhatsApp, in English or Arabic.
Here's how the options compare:
- Wati. An easy shared inbox with Shopify and WooCommerce links. The Growth plan costs USD 59 a month billed yearly, or USD 69 monthly.
- Zoko. Built around Shopify, with flows that nudge COD buyers to prepay. The company says it serves 3,000+ Shopify brands.
- Mottasl. An Arabic-first WhatsApp platform that lists Saudi and UAE phone lines.
- Unifonic and Lucidya. Enterprise tools for Arabic chatbots, SMS and sentiment tracking.
Should your store talk to customers in Arabic, English or both? Our Arabic vs English for UAE stores guide has the answer by audience.
Worked example: a Shopify store at 400 orders a month
| Tool | Monthly cost, October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Zoho Books Elite, with Shopify integration | AED 280 |
| Wati Growth, USD 59 billed yearly | About AED 217 |
| Total | About AED 497 |
That's about AED 1.25 per order, before Meta's message fees and any ASP charge. Add OTO from SAR 59 a month if you book several couriers yourself.

Notes for free zone and Saudi-bound sellers
- Free zone companies sell online too. Ecommerce licences start from AED 6,000 including a visa at RAKEZ, and delivering to UAE consumers is common with the zone's written confirmation. Set up accounting from the first sale.
- Shipping to Saudi Arabia from Dubai. Courier-cleared DDP parcels pay Saudi import VAT at the border and usually don't trigger Saudi VAT registration.
- Saudi stock changes that. Once you hold stock in Saudi Arabia, non-resident VAT registration applies, with no threshold, within 30 days.

Frequently asked questions
Plan on yes if you're VAT-registered. The Ministry of Finance phases businesses in by revenue, not by licence type. Ask a UAE tax agent which of your invoices fall in scope before you pick an ASP.
