Shopify Development in Saudi Arabia, Built for Saudi Shoppers

We build bilingual Shopify stores that work for Saudi shoppers from the first order: Arabic right-to-left design, mada and Apple Pay through a local gateway, controlled cash on delivery, Saudi couriers and ZATCA-ready invoices. Tell us what you sell and we'll plan the build with you.

Key takeaways
  • We build Shopify stores set up for Saudi Arabia: Arabic and English, mada and Apple Pay, COD, local couriers and VAT-inclusive SAR pricing.
  • Shopify Payments isn't available in the Kingdom, so we connect and test a local gateway as part of every build.
  • The process runs in five steps: discovery, plan, build, launch and support. Your scope sets the pace.
  • You bring your CR, gateway approval, product details and brand assets. We handle the store.
  • If Salla or Zid suits you better, we'll tell you before you spend anything.

Saudi Arabia is the biggest ecommerce market in the Gulf, and its shoppers are ready for your brand. They're young, they live on their phones and they pay online without a second thought.

Shopify is a strong way in. Saudi-registered stores get some of Shopify's lowest plan prices, and thousands of local brands already sell on it.

The catch? A store built for the US won't sell well here. It needs Arabic that reads right to left, mada at checkout, couriers that reach every region and invoices that keep ZATCA happy.

That's what we build: bilingual Shopify stores set up for Saudi shoppers, so your first order runs as smoothly as your thousandth.

Who is this service for?

It's for brands that want a Shopify store selling in Saudi Arabia, without learning every local quirk the hard way.

We typically work with:

  • Saudi brands moving online. You have products and maybe a shop or an Instagram following. You want a proper store that takes mada and ships nationwide.
  • Gulf brands expanding into the Kingdom. You already sell in the UAE or Kuwait and want Saudi Arabia set up right, with its own payments, prices and delivery.
  • International brands entering KSA. You run Shopify at home and need a Saudi version that feels local, not translated.
  • Sellers outgrowing a starter setup. Your store works, but the Arabic is patchy, checkout leaks sales or COD refusals hurt.

Whichever group you're in, you end up with a store Saudi shoppers trust at checkout. The money lands in your Saudi account, and your team runs the store without calling us every day.

What's included in a Saudi Shopify build?

Every build covers five areas. We scope each one to your catalogue and budget, so you only pay for what you need.

1. A store that looks and feels local

  • RTL-ready theme. We pick or customise a theme that mirrors cleanly in Arabic, with menus, sliders and icons flipped the right way.
  • Arabic and English. Both languages set up properly, with a language switcher and separate Arabic URLs.
  • Arabic typography. Fonts that read well on small phone screens, with Western digits for prices.
  • Mobile-first layout. Most Saudi shoppers browse on their phones, so we design for the thumb first and the desktop second.

2. A checkout that gets you paid

  • Local payment gateway. We connect a Saudi gateway such as Tap, Amazon Payment Services, HyperPay or Geidea, and test real payments.
  • mada and Apple Pay. Both switched on and shown clearly, because Saudi shoppers look for them.
  • BNPL if it suits you. Tabby or Tamara set up when your average order value makes it worthwhile.
  • Controlled COD. Cash on delivery with OTP checks and clear rules, so you keep the sales without the fake orders.

3. Delivery that reaches the whole Kingdom

  • Courier integration. Saudi couriers connected through an app or aggregator, with live rates where your plan supports it.
  • Shipping zones and rules. Rates for Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam versus remote areas, free-shipping thresholds and COD fees.
  • Tracking and notifications. Order, shipping and delivery messages in Arabic, by email and WhatsApp if you want it.

4. Compliance built in

  • VAT-inclusive SAR prices. Prices shown with 15% VAT included, as Saudi rules require.
  • ZATCA e-invoicing app. Installed and tested, so every order gets a compliant invoice once you're VAT-registered.
  • Required store details. Your CR number, contact details, delivery times and returns policy on the right pages.

5. Ready to grow

  • Technical SEO. Clean Arabic and English URLs, hreflang tags, titles and fast-loading pages.
  • Analytics and pixels. Google Analytics, Meta, Snapchat and TikTok tracking set up and checked.
  • Training and handover. A walkthrough for your team on orders, products, discounts and translations.

Need more than a standard build? We also scope custom sections, bundles and subscriptions, B2B price lists and larger Shopify Plus setups.

Coming from another platform? See our Salla to Shopify migration service, which moves your products, customers and URLs without losing rankings.

How does a project work?

Five steps, from first call to a store that's taking orders. How long each one takes depends on your scope and on how quickly your gateway and courier accounts are approved.

  1. 1

    Discovery

A call about what you sell, who buys it, where you ship and what you already have. We check that Shopify is the right fit and list what you'll need to provide.

  2. 2

    Plan

A written scope covering theme, apps, gateway, couriers, languages and any migration, with a quote broken down by deliverable. Nothing starts until you approve it.

  3. 3

    Build

We set up the theme, Arabic and English content, payments, shipping, invoicing and tracking. You review on a preview link and send feedback as we go.

  4. 4

    Launch

We run test orders with mada, Apple Pay, cards and COD, check every page on mobile in both languages, then go live together.

  5. 5

    Support

After launch we fix anything that comes up, help with the first orders and suggest the next improvements once real shoppers arrive.

We start gateway and courier applications on day one of the build. They're the steps you can't speed up, so running them in parallel keeps the launch moving.

What you get at handover

When the store goes live, everything is in your name and documented. You'll have:

  • A live, tested store in Arabic and English, checked on iPhone and Android.
  • Working payments and delivery, with test orders placed and refunded on each method.
  • A short operations guide covering daily orders, COD confirmations, returns and adding new products.
  • A list of every app we installed, what it does and what it costs each month.
  • Next-step ideas, based on what we saw during the build: quick wins for conversion, SEO and marketing.

You can run the store yourself from there. Or keep us on for ongoing help as you grow.

Why does a Saudi Shopify build need local know-how?

Shopify works well in Saudi Arabia. But three local details trip up most generic builds, and each one costs sales if it's missed.

Payments run through a local gateway

Shopify Payments isn't available in the Kingdom. You connect a Saudi gateway instead, and Shopify adds a small third-party fee on those orders: 2% on Basic, less on higher plans.

That fee is easy to manage once you know it's there. We put mada front and centre at checkout, because most gateways charge about 1% for it, far less than for credit cards. We also help you pick the plan where the fee saving covers the higher subscription.

Our guide to payment methods in Saudi Arabia explains which methods to offer and what each one costs.

Arabic needs more than translation

A Saudi shopper notices straight away when a store was translated by a machine. Product names sound odd, buttons point the wrong way and prices show in a font that's hard to read.

So the theme has to mirror properly, the fonts have to suit Arabic and the copy has to sound like a Saudi brand wrote it. We check every page in Arabic on a real phone before launch, not just in the editor.

See the full approach in our guide to building an Arabic Shopify store.

Cash on delivery is still part of the mix

COD keeps shrinking in Saudi Arabia, but new brands still need it. Shoppers who don't know you yet often want to see the product before they pay.

Sellers launching new stores report that COD can be 40–60% of their first orders. We keep it switched on, then add guardrails: OTP phone checks, a clear COD fee and a small reward for paying by card. As trust builds, more of your shoppers move to prepaid.

Our cash on delivery guide covers the tactics that keep refusals low.

What will you need to provide?

We handle the store. A few things only you can supply, and having them ready keeps the project on track:

  • Business documents. Your CR, a Saudi business bank account and the owner's ID for gateway and courier sign-ups.
  • A Shopify account. Created in your name, so you own the store from day one. We can guide you through it.
  • Product data. Names, prices, variants, weights and stock levels, ideally in a spreadsheet.
  • Photos and brand assets. Product images, your logo, brand colours and any existing guidelines.
  • Arabic content, if you have it. If not, we can write or polish it with you.
  • Policies. Your returns, delivery and privacy terms. We'll format them and point out anything Saudi shoppers expect to see.
  • A decision-maker. One person on your side who can approve designs and answer questions quickly.

Moving an existing Salla or Zid store? Bring your admin access too. We'll scope the migration of products, customers and URLs as part of the plan.

Is this service right for you?

Tick the boxes that describe you. If most of them fit, a done-for-you Saudi build is likely a good match.

If you only sell in Saudi Arabia and want the lowest monthly cost, Salla or Zid may suit you better for a first store. We'll tell you that honestly on the discovery call.

Need a store for the UAE as well? Ask about Shopify development in Dubai, and we can plan both markets in one build.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on scope: the number of products, how custom the design is, which apps you need and whether you're migrating data. We send a written quote after the discovery call, broken down by deliverable, so you can see what each part covers and drop what you don't need.
